🌍 Russia and Iran are actively working together to create a secure financial messaging system as an alternative to the SWIFT network. This initiative aims to bypass Western dominance in global finance. Iranian Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, stated in an interview that the improvement in banking and currency cooperation between the two nations has led to this development. He expressed optimism that financial challenges in their bilateral ties would be resolved by 2025.

▶️ This push comes after Mostafa Ghamari Vafa, a spokesperson for Iran’s central bank, emphasized that both countries are actively finalizing agreements with the Bank of Russia. Mohammad Reza Farzin, head of Iran’s central bank, recently visited Moscow to discuss various aspects of their financial collaboration. He was also part of a delegation led by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a trip to Russia on January 17, where they signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty.

✅ This treaty is seen as a defining moment in the bilateral relationship between Russia and Iran, covering a wide range of sectors including defense, counterterrorism, energy, finance, transportation, industry, agriculture, culture, and technology. It aims to expand opportunities for collaboration and serves as a framework for closer engagement.

🗣 After the treaty signing, President Pezeshkian emphasized the potential for Iran and Russia to build a partnership free from external pressures. He stated,
We are convinced that we can cooperate in the region without any outside influence.
He also criticized Western nations for their dominance in global affairs and their tendency to impose their will on others.
